We don’t think about the Sun as much as we ought to. It is just there, rising and setting predictably every day, shining so bright that our eyes cannot perceive anything more than a blazing white circle, with less apparent complexity and interesting features than the Moon.
I woke this morning and realized it is Dendroica Day! And I laughed out loud at your sentence, “We call them leaves.” Thanks for another perspective of our sun and the wonder of the way life is sourced here on Earth by a loving Sun star.🌎❤️🌕
A much underappreciated and taken for granted leaf being that of grass. .... which is the basis for so much life, and grows in just about all areas of the world, however extreme the conditions.
The problems with humans is that we are burdened by these big brains and 'intelligence'
We had a perfectly good thing going and were no different from all the other animals -- we were kept in check by food limitations.
But then we f789ed up - we used our 'intelligence' to harness fire... we expanded the types of food we could eat -- it has been argued that better nutrition from cooked food enhanced our 'intelligence'...
Then we worked out how to farm ... populations exploded on that back of that ... f789 mother nature -- we'll avoid die-offs!
One thing lead to another then Haber and Bossche developed a process of nitrogen extraction and industrial farming allowed us to really screw Mother - 8 billion and counting!!! Many of them overed.
Hurray aren't we awesome -- look at us you stupid animals -- we are superior -- we are so smart!
We drive cars and fly on planes -- we use computers and watch Tee Vee!!!
Look at you dumb animals ---living like ... wild beasts... inferior...
Of course... 8B are fed only so long as we have affordable energy inputs such as oil and gas... and those are finite...
The animals will have the last laugh as were are about to set the record for the species that went extinct in the shortest number of years.

Leaves. YES!!

Great post! Love the turns of perspective on the sun all the way through.
Or better yet, give thanks to the Creator for His gift of energy.
I agree with you. When the sun sneezes, instead of catching a cold, the earth becomes pneumonia with a high fever.
The question is why are the IPCC and Miss Greta sticking only to CO2?
I think there is a backside as well as the Covid19 pandemic.
